Anna Sui

"People who go to my fashion shows kinda go to a rock concert!"

Anna Sui ability to weave vintage folk with rock princess is outstanding! She is one of the only designers I know that use colour and patterns in almost every single collection on EVERY single piece.

Born 1955 in the suburbs of Detroit, Anna as a little girl would dress her dolls and collect magazine clippings labelled "genius files" that she, to this day, uses as referrence. In 1972 she studied at Parsons School of Design in New York (her dream school).

The entire 70's Sui designed for various sportswear companies. In 1980, she present her own 6 piece collection at the Boutique Show which got immediate attention from Macy's, who then became her #1 Buyer. Anna Sui made her first runway debut in 1991. Anna since, has paved the way of the underground punk/rock scene to florish within the New York Fashion market.

With such an intense devotion within Anna to make her collection victorious, it is without doubt that she would soon be opening her own Boutique in Soho in 1992, soon following the opening of 2 more Boutiques in Tokyo and Osaka in 1997. As well as her signature fragrance and cosmetic line in 1999. By the time the 21st century began, Anna had over 6 signature fragrances, a cosmetic line and disturbed in over 30 countries.
Anna Sui is one of the only designers that incoporates her shows as rock concerts, helping develop new upcoming artists.
