2010 Fall Must-Have Handbags

Posted by ElenaPearl

Fall is always a big handbag season, and this year designers are bringing back the classics. Look for bags with a military turn, animal motifs and rich neutral colors. Here is what we predict will be hot for Fall 2010, including the big-deal, big-ticket bags that will influence designs for months to come.

BARELY BEIGE

One of several 90s revivals, minimalism is a strong look for fall. It's all about clean lines, subdued beige hues, smooth leather and minimal hardware.

This beige tote will create a soft balance against a dramatic print.

Luscious, pebble leather in a sesame color, cinched at the mid-section with a woven leather drawstring, creates the perfect  body for this all-purpose work and weekend tote.

Military Movements

Military is everywhere this fall in clothes and accessories.

Destined to be Ferragamo's next must-have creation -- yes, you will see Hollywood's best and brightest carrying this one -- this tote is finished in olive and brown calf leather.

Yep, we know it's quite pricey. But this bag truly is a classic you can use for just about every occasion for years to come. If you love good style, we consider this a solid investment (or a great thing to ask for at Christmas!).

More than you want to pay right now? No worries. We wanted to show it to you anyway because there will be plenty of bags that borrow details from this beauty -- just wait.

This hobo even comes with a detachable dog tag. The light olive leather hue with walnut leather accents and gunmetal pyramid studs will play back nicely with fall's dark olive, belted jackets.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to strut into the hottest night club looking like the bombshell you know you are and carrying a camouflage clutch.

BACK TO BACKPACKS

This neatly structured, wool backpack may make you long for my high school – mean girls, crazy boyfriends, homeroom and all.  Complete the "Gossip Girl" look with fall's must-have knee-high socks.

Is there a monkey on my back? Yes, a signature Kipling monkey charm that dangles from this old-school style backpack finished in water-resistant crinkle nylon and complete with adjustable padded straps for extra shoulder support.

Kipling's Tilsa Medium Backpack, regularly $64 on sale for $49 until 8/25/10, Kipling-usa.com

Already spotted on young Hollywood starlets like Ashley Olsen and Whitney Port, this classic backpack is making a huge comeback for fall and beyond.  Again, expect to see imitators. Pick it up in gray nylon and stand out among a see of blacks.
