SPRING/SUMMER 2011
JOHN GALLIANO

the inspirational muse for this collection is Maria Lani, the magic figure from the Twenties and Thirties who posed as an actress and charmed last century's most famous artists -- from Matisse to Soutine, Chagall and Cocteau, Leger and De Chirico. Her portrait was painted by many of these artists. And her magic and allure is evoked in Galliano's latest collection, shown in Paris. Starting with coats and maxi-jackets, veiled hats, there are also many pieces with exotic influences like precious, floral-printed or ruffled dresses, as well as those with decorative touches like feathers and sheer elements. Every outfit is spectacular and theatrical, rich with glamour like a "tableau vivant" where colours and volumes take center stage
