Lanvin for H&M Takes Over the Pierre

Alber ElbazAlber Elbaz

Wedding bells are officially ringing for Lanvin and H&MAlber Elbaz treated loyal followers including Sofia Coppola, Andie MacDowell, Emma Roberts, Leelee Sobieski, Tory Burch and Alexander Wang to a wedding-themed fashion show at the Pierre Hotel Thursday night, and suffice it to say that it was one of the most ebuillent fashion events all season long.

The event kicked off like any Pierre wedding would, with a cocktail party in the hotel’s foyer. Once the doors opened to the big show, it was hard to ignore all the love in the air. A huge arch covered with white and light pink roses stood at the head of the runway with a neon sign that read "Lanvin Hearts H & M." As guests started filling in, some still holding their champagne, a band played at the head of the runway. “We did the whole thing very, kind of couture-ish. We have the bride, she will throw the flowers, and a straight man will catch it,” Elbaz joked.
The crowd erupted when models including Asia Chow, Pixie Geldof, Dree Hemingway, Olga and Anna Dello Russo made their way down the runway. One model had a poodle in tow, others carried H & M shopping bags, and some donned silver Miss H & M sashes. “This is what fashion is all about: happy, easy, and fun,” said Elbaz. “It looks good to me! What could be bad about it? It absolutely looks like Lanvin!” exclaimed Lynn Yaeger.
After the show, guests including Joanna Coles and Anna Sui packed downstairs to get a first crack at the merchandise, which hits stores November 20. But Linda Wells decided to forgo the crowded pop-up store. “I don’t want to get a black eye,” she laughed. “I don’t know if I’m going to endure it. I’m afraid someone will kill me!” Proceeds will benefit the Unicef All for Children Project. MacDowell and her daughter are fans of the $99 dollar black tuxedo jacket, which they both wore to the event. “It shows you, you can wear the jacket at 52 or 21,” said MacDowell.
The menswear collection by Lucas Ossendrijver features tuxedo pants for daywear at $59.95, shirts with bib fronts or pin tuck detailing for $59.95, and a tuxedo inspired suit with a satin lapel for $300 dollars. Oversized bowties for $29.95 finish the look.
So how can H & M top this love affair with Alber Elbaz? “That’s very difficult,” said H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch. “We have to think about it but we have ideas of course---but I don’t want to mention that. We always have ideas!”
