SPRING/SUMMER 2011
NINA RICCI
Mood/style:
Peter Copping, summoned to renew and refresh the historic Maison Nina Ricci, interprets its signature style enhancing a femininity that is as light as a feather, as creamy as crème chantilly, as delicate as the caress of a veil of powder, exquisite like a savoury macaron, charmante and coquette like a true Parisienne. Reworking freely the house's archives, he took his inspiration from the artists who collaborated with the Maison at the beginning of its history: the refined and decadent world of Bébé Bérard, Janine Janet's art entourage, the charming creations of Marc Lalique. Lightness and joie-de-vivre are underlined by pastel hues livened up by citrus yellow or Schiaparelli pink accents, and by using sheer andflirty fabrics such as lace, point d’esprit, broderie anglaise. A contemporary touch is provided by the razor-cut silhouettes and by contrasting elements often shown in the same outfit: masculine/feminine, rigid/soft, simple/elaborated
