Usually, when we buy a new pair of shoes, we are happy to flaunt them. But if the shoes are by Kirkwood we feel just amazing. Three weeks ago, at number 5 of Mount Street in Mayfair Nicholas Kirkwood has opened his first flagship store.
Contrast is the keyword: black and white, soft and angular elements for an ultra-modern interior design, yet showing a strong femininity that starts at the feet and reaches the brain. A store that is a work of art in itself.
Refinement and elegance also for the floor conceived by artist Richard Woods: a fluid pattern that will accompany the visitors to the various areas of the store, turning into a wall on which the well-known shoes designed by Kirkwood are displayed.
You may find collections by Rodarte, Erdem and the new designs by Peter Pilotto, but the true gem is the line realized in collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation. Shoes, boots and roller-skates that perfectly combine the vibrant colors of the imaginative American artist with the designer’s sexy style. Models that will surely become cult pieces, like those embellished with the images Radiant Baby or Safe Sex. Art for everyone, like Keith would have wanted.
A new edition of the first jewelry collection designed by Nicholas, Atelier Swarovski, has also been launched, on sale exclusively at the Mount Street store. Bracelets, rings and earrings featuring geometric shapes, and lines that enhance the body thanks to the beautiful leather inserts and crystal embellishments.
The boutique, the collaborations and the new projects testify that Kirkwood is becoming an increasingly coveted designer, a young creative talent climbing to the peak of success.
