SPRING/SUMMER 2011
BALMAIN
Mood/style:
with ‘My way’ by Frank Sinatra and by the Sex Pistols background music, Balmain's designer Christophe Decarnin underlines once again with firmness the signature Sexy-Rock/Punk style that has made him an icon with party girls, it-girls and rich chicks of the international (jet)set. Against current minimalist trends, removed from sexy in-your-face stereotypes, Decarnin obsessively repeats his message reducing it to its basic elements: the leather biker jacket perforated - almost with rage - with closely spaced studs and punk-style pins, stretched-to-the limit super tight leather leggings, tank tops ripped and délavés to such an extent they are reduced to a filmy veil, minimal and seducing shorts and mini-skirts worn with duly torn fishnet stockings. An aggressive language proposed boldly, as if making a precise statement: punk-chic style, as a radical language resists to the passing of trends and doesn't need to evolve, as it is almost an archetype
