John GallianoThe facelift is finished! John Galliano and other a-listers who j’adore packed into the revamped Dior boutique Wednesday night for a cocktail party and private dinner hosted by Vogue. Natalie Portman, the new face of the brand, got the party started with a special lighting of the building's façade. Liv Tyler, another recognizable face of LVMH, was also on hand. “I don’t usually wear jewelry, but I love this!” she said, fingering her Dior necklace. After greeting Galliano with a hug and kiss, she confessed that she already enjoyed a sneak peek. "Yesterday, I came here for my fitting, but I walked to the door and was a little confused---it still looked like it was under construction!” But Amy Adams marveled at the new digs with virgin eyes. “I’ve been in the L.A. store like a hundred times, but this is my first time in the New York one!” she laughed.

“I shouldn’t really be here at all," said Galliano, chatting with editors in the exclusive VIP salon. "I’m working on haute couture and Galliano menswear! But this is completely Dior---the essence of Dior." The two-level boutique, which originally opened in 1999, closed for the makeover in July. Now that the large scaffolding in the shape of Dior’s quilted bag has been lifted, fans are lauding the final result. “It’s beautiful," said Karolina Kurkova. "It’s very John. It's got personality, and it's very stylish, very modern, very futuristic."

The new design channels Dior’s worldwide flagship in Paris on Avenue Montaigne, combining 18th century details with modern elements. The first floor is devoted to handbags, as well as a fine jewelry room, which leads into a VIP room for fine jewelry clients at the rear of the boutique. The second floor features two ready-to-wear salons and a shoe room. Dior also commissioned several contemporary artists to design works of art for the boutique. Inside, you’ll find a Timothy Horn sculpture in the VIP salon, a floral ceiling sculpture in the eveningwear salon by David Wiseman, and a Philippe Bradshaw piece on the wall of the shoe salon.

As guests indulged in champagne and steak tartare, My Fashion Junkie wondered which items will sell out first. “I don’t know the answer to that question,” said Tyler before she headed upstairs to dine with Hamish Bowles and Anna Wintour. “Everything in the store! I tried some amazing things on yesterday that I loved. It’s nice, because when it comes to Dior, everything is so specific."
