Volker Bertelmann's "creative" piano live in Milan
The German pianist and composer, already known and loved for his experimental attitude towards the piano, to which he modifies the strings to obtain new sounds, has recently released the dream-like and rhythmical Salons The Amateurs (published by Fat Cat/Audioglobe): ten wide-ranging tracks – the composition is orchestral – that also include the collaborations of Joe Burns of Calexico, Samuli Kosminen of Mum, and of collaborator Jònsi and of violin player (and Grammy winner) Hilary Hahn.
A small masterpiece of classic contemporary music ideally inspired by techno and house, at least judging from the percussions. To listen to it live and to discover the surprising magic of his “prepared piano” the date is today at the Teatro Parenti of Milan, during the Elita festival, which brings, from the 13th to the 17th, in the Lombard capitol (already full thanks to the many events of the Salone) the new contemporary musical aesthetics.

Is classical music better than dance one? For those that love both, it's a dilemma. But there’s a possible compromise. And it’s called Volker Bertelmann, better known as Hauschka.
