LONDON FW SS 2011 DAY 3 DAY ONE
DAY ONE FAVORITES!!!!!!
Origin: Dublin, Ireland.
Career highlight: “Still waiting.”
Design Background: Costelloe studied at La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris. Before setting up his brand, he worked at Jaques Esterel in Paris, La Reniscente in Milan and Anne Fogarty in New York.
Design Signatures: “Tailoring with oomph.”
How would you describe the Paul Costelloe woman? “Slim, trim and intelligent.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011?“Madeleine Vionnet, 1920s and 1930s reinterpreted with a rock’n’roll attitude.”
What’s new for you this season? “Silver and short, or maxi.”
Where do you go in London to seek ideas for a forthcoming collection? “Going to work from Putney: cycling down the Kings Road and onto Sloane Street.”
As fashion fuses ever closer with art, film and music, how has London’s vibrant cultural scene influenced your SS11 collection?“The freedom of spirit and expression in London allows you to be uncompromising in your creative designs and colour.”

Designer name: Bora Aksu
Origin: Originally from Turkey, Bora has been based in London for 15 years.
Career highlight: “There have been many: seven window displays at Selfridges; 4 times NEWGEN recipient; meeting with Queen.”
Design background: Bora set up his label upon graduation from his MA at Central Saint Martins.
Design signatures: “My signature style is based upon finding the balance point between contrasts. It’s romantic with a darker twist.”
How would you describe the Bora Aksu woman? “She defines beauty in her own way. Tori Amos captures this for me.”
What is inspiring you for spring/summer 2011: “Ants and my mum’s photos from sixties.”
What is your brand philosophy? “Creating demi-couture pieces that are timeless and unique.”
How do you see the brand moving forward and developing? “The spirit of the brand is very personal and the dresses are very couture like. Whilst keeping the main collection as it is, I would like to develop different lines under its umbrella. The cocktail line is an example of an affordable range from the brand. I would like to expand into accessories.”
What's new for you this season? “The designs are much more experimental and darker. I developed new techniques and ways to construct the garments.”

Jenny Holmes and Dimitris Theocharidis met in 2002 on a Part Time Fashion Studies course at LCF; they both graduated in 2006 with first class honours. Jenny went on to pursue her career as a buyer, while Dimitris worked in the fashion industry in various roles, including tutoring in design, and fashion illustration. The two decided to collaborate for Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden with aspirations of launching their own label. Jena.Theo blends a unique mix of British and Greek heritage with modern ideas and attitudes. Using daring amounts of fabric and playing with new silhouettes and negative space, beautiful forms are created on the body.

Designer names: Annette Felder and Daniela Felder
Origin: The Felder sisters are from Germany “but London is our home”.
Career highlight: “Working with amazing musicians for their show outfits as well as on the soundtrack for our shows at LFW.”
Design Background: The twin sisters studied at Central St Martins and then started their own label in 2006.
Design signatures: “Modern, sexy, cool.”
How would you describe the Felder Felder woman? “A charismatic woman who is at ease with herself and the world. Age doesn’t matter. A Felder Felder woman is young at heart and she is a little wild too.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011:“Colour, textures and free spirits.”
What is your brand philosophy? “Be true to yourself and have fun with it.”
How do you see the brand moving forward and developing? “We see Felder Felder grow as a brand internationally. Our range has widened: the collection features show pieces as well as contemporary pieces. Furthermore, we are continuing to collaborate with artists and musicians as well as working on lifestyle projects, which is an integral part of what Felder Felder is about.”
What's new for you this season? “Right on time for London Fashion Week, the first ‘Felder Felder Showflat’ will be launching... More to be announced soon.”

Designer name: Hannah Marshall
Origin: Colchester, UK
Career highlight: “So much has happened since my debut catwalk show last year. The highlights are: Erin O’Connor closing my show, Harrods buying my first catwalk collection, being featured in a new book on Couture, being photographed by Rankin and Nick Knight, talking with the Queen at Buckingham Palace and meeting Anna Wintour.”
Design background: Hannah studied at Colchester School of Art & Design. She then went on to study tailoring at Central Saint Martins, and was headhunted by NESTA for their Creative Pioneer Programme as the youngest of 21 entrepreneurs in the making to receive intensive personal and business training. Before she set up her label in 2007, she worked for a few designers including Jonathan Saunders and every season she would work backstage at the London Fashion Week shows. For Hannah, “the most exciting one has to be Robert Cary‐Williams and the finale dress sculpted from ice – incredible”.
How would you describe the Hannah Marshall woman? “Strong, confident, an independent thinker and empowered.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011:“Control, privacy and technology.”
As fashion fuses ever closer with art, film and music, how has London’s vibrant cultural scene influenced your SS11 collection?“The London music scene is so incredible and I am very happy to be working with exciting and inspiring artists here: Florence & the Machine, the XX, Skin and Marina & the Diamonds. Music collaborations allow my designs to come to life, whether on stage or in a video. Also, as a designer I am very intrigued by the digital world and this is something I aim to push going forward. It’s exciting to cross over into other disciplines such as music and film.”.

Designer names: Sarah-Jane Clarke (sass) and Heidi Middleton (bide)
Origin: Sydney, Australia
Career highlight: “Maintaining our unique and inspiring friendship.”
Background: Sarah-Jane studied at the Queensland University of Technology and was an accountant. Heidi went to Queensland College of Art and Griffith University and worked as an art director before they both set up the label.
Design signatures: “A clash of the bold, the strong, and the obscure.”
Origin: Sydney, Australia
Career highlight: “Maintaining our unique and inspiring friendship.”

What is inspiring you for autumn/winter 2010? “Perfectly placed chaos.”
What encapsulates fashionable London for you? “Its uninhibited self-expression.”
How does London influence your designs? “The faded grandeur of times past.”
What do you hope the new decade will hold for your brand?“Strength and creative courage.”
